CWA focuses on cultivating and supporting teacher development as well as forming teacher culture of lifelong learning and professional development.

On the one side, all teachers in CWA will sustain cooperation and communication with UWC Changshu:
daily teaching research and lesson preparation in between subject groups; UWC, as the cooperation organization of IBO, is always responsible of organizing a variety of IB workshops. In the future, CWA will actively participate in and support all teachers to attend various teacher professional development training. On the other side, CWA will provide all teachers with more time and financial guarantee to support their self-improvement and lifelong learning, strengthen the accumulation of education informationization,help all teachers enhance in information-based teaching, extend teachers’development direction, solve potential problems for teachers as much as possible and develop collaboratively.

CWA persists that CWA teachers should have at least three characteristics:

Second, have professional and profound knowledge and superb teaching level;

  • Gabby Chinese Teacher& Chinese HOD

    She has Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language & Literature and master in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from East China Normal University. Gabby Holds domestic high school Chinese teaching qualification and IB certificate. While Possesses 1 year of overseas teaching experience, 7 years of international school teaching experience, and 3 years of subject and pastoral care coordination management experience. Awarded Second Prize in Changshu City Junior High Chinese Young Teachers' Basic Skills Competition,and honored with the title of "Outstanding Homeroom Teacher" in Changshu City. Specializes in integrated unit curriculum design and students' social-emotional competence development, participated in the provincial research project "Activity Design and Implementation of Chinese 'Integrated Unit' Curriculum in Bilingual Schools", She also served as workshop presenter at the inaugural Changshu UWC International Youth Physical-Mental Health and Well-being Education Symposium.   • Carrie Chinese Teacher& G10-12 Pastoral Coordinator& DPC

    Ms. Carrie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Beijing Normal University and a Master’s degree in Education from The University of Hong Kong. She currently serves as the Head of Chinese Department, Advisor Coordinator, and Chinese National Curriculum Coordinator. With eight years of experience teaching IBDP Chinese A, she specializes in both Literature and Language & Literature courses and has successfully guided multiple cohorts of students through their Extended Essays, helping them achieve outstanding results. In her teaching, Ms. Carrie emphasizes exploring the beauty of literature and the depth of language, inspiring students to develop a genuine passion for Chinese learning. At the same time, she has continuously engaged in research and exploration in her teaching practice. She led the CWA Chinese Department to host the "IB Chinese Conceptual Teaching and Assessment Workshop" and was invited to be one of the workshop leaders at the 11th International Conference on Chinese Education in International Schools in 2024.

  • Hazel Chinese Teacher

    Ms.Hazel, Master's degree in Chinese Language from Beijing Normal University, Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreginer Language from Nanjing University. She has 3 years of Chinese teaching experience in a Shanghai Bilingual school and 2 years working experience in K12 education companies. As a Chinese language teacher, she has taught International students in Nanjing and Beijing. In her class, students are attracted by the topics she gives. She also encourages students to think harder about current issues.

  • Juliana ‌Chinese Teacher & G7-G9 Academic Coordinator

    Master's degree in Chinese Language Education, with 11 years of secondary school teaching experience. She has previously served as a secondary school Chinese teacher, Chinese teacher in American public schools and homeroom teacher in international secondary school. She is the Multiple winner of provincial and municipal Outstanding Writing Instructor awards. Guides students in creating personal projects, establishing school councils and organizing Chinese drama performances and other activities, stimulating students' enthusiasm and initiative, while helping them practice, improve, and grow. Cares about students' physical and mental health, builds friendly relationships with students and helps them achieve self-fulfillment.

  • Rachel Chinese Teacher

    Ms. Chen has master degree from Nanjing Normal University in Chinese Literature. Since coming to her first school in her career, she has embraced the international education and IB philosophy. For the past seven years she has worked as a DP Chinese Teacher in Suzhou’s International school and NAS Nantong. She believes that there is no end to learning and teaching others teaches yourself, and now she is still on her way to explore the course.

  • Vanessa English Teacher & English HoD

    She has Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting and Media Studies from Nankai University, and Master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College, USA. Vanessa holds high school ELA and ESL teaching certifications from both China and the United States. She has 11 years of experience teaching English, including IB, AP, TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, and Film Studies. She specializes in curriculum design, identifying students' interests, and effectively addressing challenges and key points in language acquisition. Vanessa taught herself Japanese and Korean, achieving JLPT N1, J-Test Special A Rank, and TOPIK Level 5. Additionally, she has extensive experience in translating conferences, academic mentorship, and academic competitions.

  • Steve English Teacher

    With over a 14 years of diverse teaching experience, Steven is a dedicated educator specializing in DP English-B, AP language and Composition, and AP Literature. His career spans various roles, including curriculum development, leadership positions, student mentorship and advisory positions, in Beijing and now Changshu. Steve is adept in carrying out the IB curriculum, with plentiful experience in project- based and student-centered teaching approaches. He has been key to helping previous schools achieve accreditation and align their curriculums to various standards. As a teacher of English B and Student Advisor at CWA, Steve is dedicated to motivating and guiding students to grow academically and personally, helping them to realize and pursue their full potential.

  • Luke Benjamin Wilmot English Teacher

    Mr. Luke holds a Bachelor‘s degree in International Politics and is currently pursuing a Master of Education. With over ten years of international teaching experience, including six years within the IB framework, he brings expertise in English, Geography, and interdisciplinary learning. Prior to joining CWA, he was Head of English and Individuals & Societies and has taught AP Geography, MYP English and Individuals & Societies, and DP English and Geography. He has also authored a DP Geography textbook and MYP Study Guides in collaboration with IB educational publishers. He believes that the best learning takes place when students are challenged, supported, and inspired to think independently. His classrooms combine high academic expectations with inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to ask meaningful questions, communicate with confidence, and develop the critical thinking skills needed to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Heyman English Teacher

    Mr. Heyman holds an MA in TESOL from the University of Hong Kong. Since graduation, he has been devoted to international education for nearly five years. He is primarily responsible for teaching IGCSE English, IELTS, TOEFL, ESL, and academic writing. He also has three years of experience as a homeroom teacher and mentor. Mr. Heyman has a humorous and approachable personality. He likes to integrate elements such as Japanese anime, games, sports, and online trends that students enjoy into his teaching content and classroom language and has always been highly popular with students. In teaching, he is patient and skilled at communicating with students, with a particular focus on guiding those with weaker foundations or low learning motivation.

  • Keshab Adhikari Econimics&BM Teacher& Group 3 HoD

    Keshab is from India and has a Master of Arts (Economics) from Punjab University, India, a Master of Business Management (Education Management) from North-East Frontier University, India, and a Master in Education (Advanced Teaching Degree) from the University of the People, USA. He has more than 17 years of experience teaching at foreign schools in China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, and India. He is also an IBDP TOK and Economics examiner.

  • Felester Geography teacher

    With over a 10 years of diverse teaching experience, Felester is a dedicated educator specializing in IBMYP Integrated Humanities, IBDP Geography, History, Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS), and IGCSE Geography. Her career spans various roles, including curriculum development, external assessment, student mentorship and advisory positions, in both Kenya and China. Felester is an expert in delivering the IB curriculum, with extensive experience in inquiry-based and student-centered teaching approaches. She is also an IBDP Geography examiner and has also played a key role in preparing schools for IB authorization and evaluation visits. As a teacher of Geography, Advisor and Discovery Project Supervisor at China World Academy in Jiangsu, Felester is committed to inspiring and empowering students to reach their full potential.

    Ms. Stephanie holds a Masters Degree in Education Technology from Pelita Harapan University, Indonesia. With 15 years of experience of teaching, 5 years of being an IB examiner, she brings expertise in DP Psychology. Prior to joining CWA, she served as a EE Coordinator and IB/AP Psychology teacher at Beijing No.101 High School. Outside the classroom, she is passionate about improve theatre, painting, and tango dancing.

  • Priyanka Deepak Pal Biology Teacher&Science HoD

    Ms. Priyanka holds a PhD in Biophysics, a Bachelor of Education, and QTS. With 11 years of teaching experience including 6 years in the IB she brings expertise in inquiry-based science and student-centered learning. Prior to joining CWA, she served as a Biology and ESS teacher, IB DP- MYP Biology/ESS facilitator, Head of Science, and Head of Year at UISG Guangzhou. Outside the classroom, she’s passionate about running student competitions, projects and Olympiads In her free time you’ll find her gardening and leading a community cooking club.

  • Shan Chemistry teacher

    She holds an M.S. in Analytical Chemistry from East China Normal University and an M.Ed. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With 16 years of experience in international education, she specializes in delivering IB, AP, A-Level, and IGCSE Chemistry instruction, helping students master complex concepts through a clear, engaging, and student-centered approach. With a deep understanding of students’ learning patterns, Shan adapts lessons to students' cognitive processes, transforming challenging material into accessible and enjoyable learning experiences. Her teaching methodology cultivates critical thinking, hands-on competency, and problem-solving skills. As a veteran teacher, Shan identifies learning barriers and implements targeted strategies to enhance performance, enabling students to excel in exams and competitions.   • Matthew Chemistry teacher

    He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Department of Basic Sciences at Nanjing University (National First Prize Scholarship for Basic Talent Training), earned a master's degree with full scholarship from the Chemistry Department at the University of California, Riverside (with years of experience teaching university chemistry lab courses), and has extensive experience in international school teaching management. In 2020, he joined CWA as a founding member. He has taught AP/OSSD/IB Chemistry courses and helped students win numerous awards, such as the RSC-Rising Star National Finals, USNCO Gold Medal, UKChO Silver Medal, and JCCO Gold Medal.

  • Erickson Euste Verdon Physics Teacher

    Mr. Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, major in Physics, from Philippine Normal University and is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Educational Technology at Philippine Christian University. With over 14 years of teaching experience, he specializes in IB Diploma Programme, A Level, and IGCSE Physics, helping students develop strong conceptual understanding and achieve academic success. Prior to joining CWA, he served as an IB DP, A Level, and IGCSE Physics Teacher at Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School in Shanghai, China, where he also took on the roles of Physics Subject Leader and Volleyball Coach. Outside the classroom, he is passionate about volleyball, educational technology, and continuous professional development.     Nilam is an experienced mathematics teacher and IB educator with over 18 years of teaching at the high school (IBDP, A Levels, AP) and university levels. Since 2012, he has been actively engaged in IB education, serving as a DP Examiner (Team Leader), IA Moderator, and IBEN member. His expertise encompasses IB assessments, curriculum development, and professional training. In his career, he has held leadership positions and contributed to assessment standardization, moderation, and instructional development. Passionate about fostering a student-centered, inquiry-driven learning environment, Nilam integrates technology and real-world applications to deepen students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics. He embraces a constructivist approach, encouraging students to explore mathematical concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and apply mathematics in real-world contexts.

  • Natalie Math teacher

    ‌‌Master of Science from Sun Yat-sen University with over 10 years of middle school mathematics teaching experience.‌ Throughout the teaching career, has repeatedly taught graduating classes with outstanding results. Awarded honors include: Wujiang District High-Quality Open Class, Wujiang District Outstanding Homeroom Teacher, Suzhou City Micro-Lesson Competition Second Prize, Changshu Private Education Key Teacher, and member of the Wujiang District Mathematics Research Center Expert Group.

  • Joseph Math teacher

    He has been a teacher for the last 20 years. He has had the privilege of preparing students for A level (Further Mathematics) examination in Cambridge curriculum where the students excelled and joined some of the prestigious universities in the west. Through out his teaching career that span over a decade, He has met so many friends from diverse cultures which has helped in his relationship with people from different background. He is enjoying teaching IB because it embodies what my teaching philosophy is. He believes in student led learning, He lets the students take charge of their own learning which through experience helps the learners in understanding the underlying concepts. As an IB examiner, as he prepares his students, he emphasizes to them what the examiner looks at when they answer the questions. Throughout his teaching journey , he tries his best to apply equity in his teaching, it is his belief that all learners need to be given equal opportunity in their learning process, his teaching encompasses differentiation so that no learner feels left behind in the process.

  • Christa Math Teacher

    Ms. Xu graduated from Hong Kong University with a master's degree, and her major is Teaching Mathematics in International Context, holds with the IBDP teaching qualification. She has 12 years of experience in studying abroad. She received education from Western countries since childhood and completed the A-level education in high school. Before coming to CWA, she had been working as a Senior English mathematics teacher in both international and bilingual schools. Teaching mathematics in English, it provides students with an English classroom atmosphere, which not only strengthens students' mathematical knowledge, but also strengthens students' mathematical English oral expression ability, so that students can experience the education of western mathematics while living in China.

  • Melody Music Teacher

    Ms. Melody holds a Master’s degree in Music from Kingston University London and a Piano Performance Diploma from the University of Hull. She has more than 20 years of experience in music education, including over 10 years in international and bilingual schools in China and Taiwan. Melody has taught students from early childhood to secondary school and has extensive experience in general music, piano, choir, orchestra, chamber ensembles, and Pop & Rock bands. She has also designed music curricula and led numerous student performances and school concerts. She particularly enjoys creating opportunities for students to collaborate, perform, and build confidence through music.

  • Goutam Visual Arts Teacher

    Goutam holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts and later on B ED (Bachelor of Education) degree with a major in English and History. During his non stop 29-year Art teaching experience, he had served many prestigious International schools around the world as Head of Faculty/department in China, India, South Africa, and Indonesia, among which he has taught IBDP curriculum since 2007 and was duly trained in Tokyo, Japan. He is DP Visual Arts Examiner since 2008.

  • Aleks Head of P.E.

    Mr. Aleks, Master's degree in Physical Education from Kharkiv Polytechnic University . He has worked in the education field for 12 years and accumulated rich experience in teaching PE. He was a basketball coach for Youth Basketball Development League (YBDL, Shanghai) and soccer coach for Sinobal FC, Hangzhou.

  • Blair Visual Arts Teacher

    Ms. Li has a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from the University of Southampton and a Master’s degree in Fashion Design from Istituto Europeo di Design. She took part in design work for many brands. In the past year, she learned and did research with designers from famous brands such as Valentino and Roberto Cavalli. In her future classes, she will use her art ideas and creative thoughts in daily teaching.

  • Cathy TOK Teacher

    Ms. Cathy is from Suzhou and has a master degree from East China University of Political Science and Law in legal translation. For the past 6 years, she has served as a DP coordinator and TOK teacher at Zhangjiagang Liangfeng International School in Suzhou.
    When not at work, she enjoys reading, watching films and making coffee art. She also likes spending time on taking photos and videos to record life. In her view, she likes looking for something new and developing interests. Cathy looks forward to joining the CWA community and exploring new things with all staff here.

  • Jennifer CAS Coordinator&Student Activity Coordinator

    Ms. Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree in finance from Wuhan University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Management from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. With years of business operations management experience and six years in the international education industry, she specializes in guiding students to understand the core values of CAS, integrating it with TOK and EE in the IB curriculum, and helping students explore and solve real-world problems from multiple dimensions. Ms. Jennifer excels in connecting social resources seamlessly with curriculum inspiring students to independently explore ideas for their CAS projects. By involving students in CAS projects, from topic selection to implementation and reflection, she helps them fully understand the seven CAS learning outcomes. Representative projects include the CWA Illustrator Incubation Program (in collaboration with Artyaya), Changshu Shajiabang Primary School Teaching and Research Project, and the Wonders Garden Project (Assisting the disabled in collaboration with Changshu Love Neighborhood Charity).

  • Stephen Librarian &EE Coordinator

    Prior to working at CWA, Stephen served as the Librarian at a Canadian school in Dalian for 5 years. He has a Bachelor of Arts (History) from Bishop's University in Quebec, as well as a Bachelor of Education and a Master's of Information Studies from the University of Toronto.

Engaged in University Counselling work for 7 years including 3 years in Suzhou High School of Jiangsu Province, familiar with the application process and requirements of overseas colleges and universities.     Ms. Wang holds a bachelor‘s degree in Social Physical Education from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology and has completed postgraduate studies in Applied Psychology at Nankai University. She is certified as a secondary school physical education teacher and as a national psychological counselor. With 14 years of experience in moral education leadership at international schools, she remains steadfast in her educational mission: sports forge character, and psychology nurtures growth. She believes that true education begins with seeing each child - understanding the emotions behind students’ behaviors, respecting every child‘s unique developmental rhythm, and recognizing that moral education is about awakening, not restraint.

  • Cherry Psychological Counselor &BH

  • Hillary BH&Pastoral Care Officer

    Hillary is from Suzhou, Jiangsu. She has been working in international schools since 2017, gaining a solid understanding of various school departments, with particular experience in boarding programs and pastoral care. She enjoys interacting with students and firmly believes that students should always come first.
