CWA 's application for 2023 admission is officially opened. We are currently recruiting new students with appropriate age to participate in the selection.
Ideal candidates are expected to have the following qualities:
Positive and optimistic attitude to overcome challenges and frustration;
Attach importance to academic ambition and independent learning skills;
Have hobbies or interests, and are willing to spend time and put energy into it;
Passions and energy to spend time in pursuing dreams; Courage and generosity to lead and support others when facing difficulties;
Willingness to play an active role in change making.
Principles
CWA has systems in place to promote and support enrollment in the school and to advise
students regarding their options in the IB program. CWA believes in an open admission system offering the broadest access to the IB program.
Applications
Applications are received throughout the year together with accompanying documentation (school reports and references, medical reports, and all other needed personal and family information). Candidates will be informed within 10 days about the application outcome and if successful will proceed to the next stage, National section day. The National selection days will take place at school.
Ø a.（Applications IBFP）Students will:
o Take Mathematics / Physics and English tests
o Have 2 interviews, one in English one in Chinese
o Will be part of a family interview (in Chinese)
Ø b.（Applications IBDP）Students will also apply:
o Foundation Program year completed
o Minimum grade of 4 (following IBDP criteria and rubrics structure) in English and
Math. For HL a minimum grade of 5 is required
o Record of good behavior
o Commitment to CWA values
o Following CWA guidelines in terms of activities’ commitment
o Recommendations from Homeroom teachers, advisors, DPC and Principals
The selection committee (made of Admissions, Principals, and any other relevant CWA members – DPC/ HoDs / Teachers/ Students life members…) will review the applications considering set criteria:
o Application file and attached documentation
o CWA entrance tests results (through national day selection)
o Commend of English (spoken and written)
o Personality and adaptability to CWA culture and environment
o Potential for academic growth and linguistic growth
Admission results
Ø Rejection: A formal email is sent to the family followed by a phone conversation for further explanation.
Ø Admission:
o A formal email is sent to the family
o Official contact is made for one to one guidance before the start of the new year (Admissions Department / Principals / Academic and
Student life sections)
o Summer reading and preparation work is sent*
*The setting up of a pre-semester,1 summer school for new CWA students is under review.

CWA scholarship scheme process
The scholarship scheme is opened to every student -coming from Changshu district -applying to CWA at either Foundation Program level or IBDP1 entrance level. This is a merit-based scheme.
CWA scholarship committee made of the two principals, deputy principal for student life and
head of admission department will review all files and select scholarship candidates.
Selected candidates will be informed and can decide to apply to the next step of final scholarship award.
CWA Board members will then review the candidates’ list proposal made by the scholarship committee and will make the final decision.
Candidates are then formally informed.
